One of my biggest challenges as a sole proprietor was always organization. I couldn't keep track of my day's schedule, forget about shipping deadlines and supply order dates. I was quickly in over my head and way behind, so I knew I needed help. Making the transition from working on my own to becoming an employer was rocky. I learned a lot, but I made a lot of mistakes along the way. I created this site to share all of the tips I've picked up to ease that transition when you hire your first employee. Renting office space in your community can be an exciting process. Whether you've run a home-based business and are looking to expand, or you've had a small office space for years and are seeking something larger, you'll have no shortage of options. There are lots of factors to take into consideration when you check out different office spaces for rent, including the monthly rental fee. Some people want to choose a space that gives them the features they want but is as affordable as possible. Here are three ways that you can save money on an office space rental. 

Interior Unit

When you look at different types of office space in a large building, there will often be interior- and exterior-facing units. The latter type is situated around the building's perimeter, while the former type is in the center of the building. Exterior-facing units have windows, while interior units do not. While there's no arguing that windows are a nice feature to have in your office, you'll often find that interior units are priced more affordably than exterior-facing units. If you're looking to save money, an interior unit can be a good choice.

No Parking

Parking is a topic to think about when you're looking at different types of office space around your community. Many units include a designated number of parking spaces in a lot that is adjacent to the building. While convenient, this perk will often cost a little more money than an office space that doesn't come with parking. It's useful to consider your parking needs. If everyone who works on your team commutes to work on public transit, there's little need to pay for parking. In this scenario, saving money by renting a unit that doesn't include parking may be your best bet.

Non-Prime Location

When you think about your area, you can likely identify a few streets that are known for having high-end businesses. Renting office space on one of these streets might be desirable, but it may also be on the pricier side because of the good reputation of the area. If you're looking to save money, think about renting in a non-prime location. Choosing office space that is just a few blocks away from one of these major streets might be significantly more affordable. Keep these ideas in mind when you're evaluating various types of office space for rent in your local area.
